What I got in February 2014: SOC GLINT, G.I. Joe Roadblock, Psylocke, Star Wars and more

These were the stuff I got in February: DAM Toys Ghost series No. SF001 1/6 scale Special Operations Center GLINT Team Leader: Ryder Watson 12-inch figure, Hot Toys G.I. Joe Retaliation 1/6th scale Roadblock 12-inch Collectible Figure, MC Toys F-029 1/6 scale Snow Space set for 12-inch figures (all set for the Inception movie Snow Scene), Kotobukiya Marvel Bishoujo collection 1/7th scale X-Force Psylocke 8-inch Statue, "Star Wars: A Pop-up Guide to the Galaxy" book, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson 1/6 scale head sculpt, Christmas card and 2014 calendar from Sideshow Collectibles.

Always enjoy my hauls. Something to look forward to as I enjoy taking pictures and posting them on my toy blog to share with fellow collectors and anyone else who's interested :) Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures.

Used to be you'll think that this boxed figure set was from Soldier Story but not anymore. Dam Toys has upped their game and been churning out some very good stuff lately and this is just one of them. Looks to be an awesome figure. Can't wait to put this together :) In the meantime, check out the preview pictures posted earlier HERE

Hot Toys MMS series G.I. Joe Retaliation 1/6th scale Roadblock Collectible Figure simply ROCKS (pun intended). Cannot wait to see the unveiling? Check out the preview pictures HERE

Haven't seen that many all white snow sets in a while and this looked very promising from the preview pictures released (posted in my toy blog HERE) Let's see what we can kitbash with this ;p

Kotobukiya Marvel Bishoujo collection 1/7th scale X-Force Psylocke 8-inch Statue, already reviewed HERE and HERE. I really like this statue and that's saying a lot since I don't collect a lot of statues and this was one of the exceptions.

"Star Wars: A Pop-up Guide to the Galaxy" book with dual light-up light sabers was also reviewed earlier HERE. I was blown away by the pop-ups effects.

Alternate Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson 1/6 scale head sculpt. One of those things that are good to have (for kitbashing)

Christmas card from Sideshow Collectibles. This came as a complete surprise and was totally unexpected. Always nice to receive gifts :) feels like Christmas all over again haha

The Sideshow Collectibles 2014 calendar: Capturing Archetypes – Twenty years of Sideshow Art. Beautifully taken photographs of figures and statues sold by Sideshow Collectibles over the years presented over twelve months of 2014.

Darth Vader is covered in May, perhaps to imply "MAY the Force be with you" since May 4 is Star Wars Day ;p

That's all for now. I will be reviewing the figures featured here in March 2014 even as I look forward to new hauls for the coming months.

Comparison pictures of OE Killer Instinct Sam & Viola + Motoko, Deunan, Black Widow & Selina

continued from previous post...

Having reviewed OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM 13" post-apocalyptic female figure in three parts previously HERE, HERE and HERE, I think it's time to make a comparison between OE Sam and OE Viola, as well as with other 1/6 scale female action figures (NOT dolls but I guess that's just a technicality). Guys don't want to be seen playing with dolls, that's for the gals and daughters. That's why the term "action figure" was coined for masculine man so that they can say it's OKAY to pose with their action figures - same same but different Haha

According to wikipedia: An action figure is a pose-able character figurine, made of plastic or other materials, and often based upon characters from a film, comic book, video game, or television program. These action figures are usually marketed towards boys and adult collectors. Barbie is very much a fashion doll, primarily designed to be dressed to reflect fashion trends and are usually modeled after teen girls or adult women. Sam and Viola aren't because they are designed with men in mind LOL

That explains why I don't have many female figures in my toy collection because I much prefer the rough and tumble kind of characters who can take a knock and keep on going, not implying durability but that the figures are action-oriented. Scroll down to check out the size difference between OE (Original Effect) Army Attractive series 1/6 scale Viola and OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM as well as other size comparison pictures of these two taller than usual figures with 1/6 scale "Ghost in the Shell" Motoko Kusanagi, "Appleseed Ex Machina" Deunan Knute, Marvel's "The Avengers (2012)" Black Widow and "The Dark Knight Rises" Selina Kyle / Catwoman.

As you can see, Viola is taller at 13.5 inches while Sam stands at 13 inches. Viola is the first figure released by OE (reviewed earlier in my toy blog HERE and HERE) and they must have rushed the production because the body sucks big time. She's what I would call "loose limbs" and her legs will just give up on her and fall off completely :(

Here's a 1/6 scale female body comparison picture of OE Army Attractive Viola and OE Killer Instinct Sam standing together with Medicom Toys "Ghost in the Shell" Motoko Kusanagi and Hot Toys "Appleseed Ex Machina" Deunan Knute. Both OE female figures tower over the other two.

Medicom Toy 1/6 scale Motoko Kusanagi - Ghost in a Shell / Stand Alone Complex - Public Security Section 9, a fictional division of the real Japanese National Public Safety Commission female action figure. Lots more pictures HERE

Hot Toys MMS "Appleseed Ex Machina" 1/6 scale Deunan Knute fully pose-able figure posted earlier HERE

And here's a 1/6 scale female body comparison picture of OE Army Attractive Viola and OE Killer Instinct Sam standing together with Hot Toys Marvel's "The Avengers (2012)" Black Widow and "The Dark Knight Rises" Selina Kyle / Catwoman.

Last but not least, Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises: 1/6 Selina Kyle / Catwoman Female Collectible Figure was reviewed over 3 parts HERE, HERE and HERE (this last post has her on the Bat Pod)

Review III: OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM 13" post-apocalyptic female figure

continued from earlier post...

Here's my third part review of the OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM 13-inch female action figure with the alternate head sculpt. For those who have been waiting ages for this post, I apologize. Work has been keeping me busy and there have been quite a few updates concerning incoming figures. I certainly hope this is worth the wait ;p

As mentioned earlier in my first part review HERE, OE (original effect) first previewed Killer Instinct SAM with one head sculpt and then added a second version SAM head sculpt not too long after. This resulted in mixed responses with some preferring the first over the second and vice versa. In the end, OE decided to just include both female head sculpts for customers / collectors to choose which one they prefer to pose Killer Instinct SAM with. I don't mind that at all :) Having already reviewed the first SAM head sculpt, I guess it's time to see how SAM looks with the alternate head sculpt. Scroll down to see the pictures.

OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM comes with the following: 1/6 scale SAM female head sculpt x 2, 13-inch Woman body, White swimsuit (weathered and dirtied, and looking less than white), Green working pirate shorts (with leather reinforcements at the knees), Yellow working boots, Orange scarf with iron wire around the edges for posing, shawl, Special bullet waist belt, Special bullet x 6, Mechanical arm, Alternative arm, Bare hands x 2, Leg protector. Check out the turnaround views

Close-up of the alternate OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM female head sculpt. Compare these with the pictures of the other head sculpt HERE. Both head sculpts are very much anime / manga inspired which I like. Nobody's going to bitch and say that the head is not realistic enough or that it doesn't look anything like so-and-so (insert famous movie actor's name here). These sculpts will stand the test of time and not fall into the category of outdated unrealistic human heads (those earlier Dragon Models Limited heads, for instance) because they were never meant to be real in the first place.

Close-up pictures of OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM with alternate head sculpt. You can compare these with SAM head version 1 posted HERE

Here's how the special bullets can be loaded into SAM's mechanical arm gun. The rotating cylinder can be removed and placed back but like I mentioned before, I cannot find the trigger that fires this huge gun.

NEXT: Comparison pictures of OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM 13-inch female action figure with OE Viola and other 12-inch female figures. How do they measure up?

Dam Toys Elite Series 1/6 scale USMC Reconnaissance Battalion M27 Rifleman figure

The Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU) is the current battledress uniform of the United States Marine Corps. It is also worn by Navy personnel (mostly corpsmen and chaplains) assigned to Marine Corps units (Fleet Marine Force). The MCCUU, and its distinctive camouflage pattern, MARPAT (short for MARine PATtern), are exclusive to the Marine Corps, which holds the patents to their design. MARPAT is available in two color schemes, woodland and desert. Flame Resistant Organizational Gear (FROG) is clothing used by the United States Marine Corps to reduce the number of injuries resulting from fire and flash (especially burns), due to the increased use of improvised explosive devices in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The FROG system consists of a long-sleeve shirt, t-shirt, combat shirt, combat trousers, gloves, and a balaclava. The shirts and trousers are camouflaged in MARPAT, while the remainder are colored in either sand or olive drab.

This is the upcoming Dam Toys Elite Series No.78014 1/6 scale USMC Reconnaissance Battalion M27 Rifleman 12-inch figure wearing the latest gear and FROG suit (desert MARPAT), FROG pants (desert MARPAT), USMC rat boots (CB), M27 IAR, TA11SDO-CP ACOG 3.5x35 scope, backup sight, AN/PEQ-16 laser, tango grip, BRMS bipods, sling adapter and rifle sling.

Dam Toys has certainly improved by leaps and bounds and have been releasing a slew of military figures, all of them with tons of gear and with great detailing. Always nice to have a basic grunt / trooper because they do form the bulk of the world's armies / marines. There should always be a balance between the grunt and the special operations guy even though it seems like the special ops guys get a lot of the attention. Scroll down to see all the pictures.

This is the upcoming Dam Toys Elite Series No.78014 1/6 scale USMC Reconnaissance Battalion M27 Rifleman 12-inch figure with the following parts list: 1/6 scale head sculpt with angry frowning screaming shouting expression (okay if you are posing him in an action pose with his buddies but funny looking if he's standing all by himself with mouth permanently gaping open), Dam 2.0 action body, MICH2000 helmet with cover(desert MARPAT), AKA2 NVG mount, PVS-14 NVG dual dovetail adapter, AN/PVS-14 NVG, helmet light, M frame glasses, t-shirt (blk), FROG suit (desert MARPAT), FROG pants (desert MARPAT), BDU belt (tan), glove palms x3, USMC rat boots (CB), USMC ISPC vest, grenade pouch x2, USMC NVG pouch, USMC IFAK pouch, PRC-152 radio pouch, M4 double mag pouch, M4 mag pouch, USMC MOLLE hydration pouch, hydration tube, hanging buckle, USMC drop pouch, stream light, AN/PRC-152 radio with hand mic, light sticks x5, G-shock watch, FORETREX 401 GPS, USMC patch A, USMC patch B, name tab A x2, name tab B x2, M27 IAR, TA11SDO-CP ACOG 3.5x35 scope, backup sight, AN/PEQ-16 laser, tango grip, BRMS bipods, sling adapter, rifle sling, M4 mag x3, emag x3, M72A7 rocket launcher, LA5 PEQ laser, M9 pistol, pistol mag x2 + 1, CQC M9 holster, M10 bayonet, M67 grenade x2, M18 smoke grenade
