Comparison pictures of VTS The Revenger 12-inch figure with Art Figures: SAVES "Punisher"

continued from earlier post...

When the Art-Figures: SAVES "Punisher: War Zone" 1/6 scale Figure was first released, the quality caught a lot of people by surprise and many were left scrambling to get their hands on the 12-inch Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle the Punisher figure. Unfortunately, because the figure was produced based on pre-order numbers and not many people gave a thought of pre-ordering it, the production number was small and supply was limited when it came out. Thus the secondary market price of the Art-Figures: SAVES "Punisher: War Zone" figure began to rise very quickly and it became a holy grail for many collectors.

Fast forward to the present and DAM Toys (under their other brand name VTS for Virtual ToyS) just released their version of the 1/6 scale Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle the Punisher figure from the 2008 "Punisher: War Zone" movie and BAM! they certainly knocked this one out of the ballpark. This recently released VTS The Revenger figure is way better than the previously released and highly sought after Art Figures SAVES Punisher figure but hey, that's just my humble opinion.

What better way to bring a point across than to show pictures of both VTS The Revenger 12-inch figure with Art Figures: SAVES "Punisher" figure standing side-by-side and let you see and decide for yourself how different each figure is and which one is better. By the way, from what I hear, VTS The Revenger figure is already selling fast and some shops are already sold out of this figure so don't wait too long to get yours. Scroll down to see all the pictures. Click on them for bigger and better views (especially the landscape oriented ones). Enjoy!

In the pictures below, Art Figures: SAVES "Punisher War Zone" 12-inch figure is on the left and VTS 1/6 scale The REvenger figure is on the right.

As I've mentioned before, VTS The Revenger 12-inch figure has all the movie accurate 1/6 scale weapons which is a big plus and the quality is really good too.

Click on the pictures for bigger and better views. You can see how the same set-up can be done so differently and I'm certainly liking the newer version by VTS a lot. The sentimental me still will not let go of the Art Figures SAVES figure either haha they look great together

Preview Art Figure 1/6 scale FBI Biochemical Weapons Expert 12-inch Nicolas Cage figure

The Rock is a 1996 action film that primarily takes place on Alcatraz Island and in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was directed by Michael Bay, director of Bad Boys, and stars Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage and Ed Harris. Nicolas Cage plays Dr. Stanley Goodspeed, FBI Special Agent. Goodspeed's job is to diffuse the stolen VX gas-armed rockets as fast as possible before the rogue US Force Recon Marines can launch them against the population of San Francisco.

This will be the latest release from Art Figure: AF-014 which is a 1/6 scale FBI Biochemical Weapons Expert 12-inch figure with authentic likeness of Nicolas Cage head sculpt, 12-inch figure body, Black T shirt, Combat Uniform, OMEGA EOD Vest, White Underpants, Backpack, OMEGA Pistol Holster, Tactical Gloves, XM177 rifle with Magazine x 6, Tactical Weapon light, M9 pistol with surefire tactical light, Magazine x 2, screwdriver, Combat boots, Biochemical weapon.

For a film that came out in 1996, they certainly took their time in releasing this.

Loading Toys had released a SEAL Team uniform boxed set which is quite similar to this upcoming release but was very basic in terms of gear. You can check out my toy blog post HERE for the review and pictures

I had used the earlier released Loading Toys SEAL Team set to kitbash a 1:6 scale Sean Connery as John Mason from The Rock - lots of pictures HERE

Close-up pictures of the Art Figure 1/6 scale Nicolas Cage as Doctor Stanley Goodspeed head sculpt.

This will make a great companion piece with Art Figures AF011 1/6 scale Nave SEALS team VI 12-inch Sean Connery figure from The Rock (previewed earlier HERE)

The bonus has to be the 1/6 scale Biochemical Weapon which is a stolen VX gas-armed rocket

The rocket can be dismantled

And the VX gas can be removed, just like in the movie

Presenting Expendables 2 cast of Barney Ross, Lee Christmas & Gunner Jensen, the Terrific Trio

continued from previous post...

We've got Hot Toys MMS194 Expendables 2 Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross 1/6th scale Collectible Figure in full tactical suit (see earlier reviews HERE), we've got Art Figures AF012 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 12-inch action figure which is essentially Gunner Jensen from The Expendables 2 (posted HERE) and we've got Art Figures 1/6 Soldiers of Fortune 12-inch figure (Jason Statham as Lee Christmas in The Expendables - pictures HERE). What we haven't seen till now are the three of them in a group picture together for size comparisons so here it is: my toy blog post of the terrific trio, the team of three from The Expendables films :)

Hot Toys never did release any other cast members / actors from The Expendables films other than the two Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) 1/6 scale figures even though they have acquired the license to produce the Expendables Movie Masterpiece Series 12-inch figures. Out of the two Barney Ross figures, the latest version from The Expendables 2 looks to be the better choice if you can only get one of them. Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures of the three Expendables 12-inch figures. They certainly look good together. I'm just hoping that more members from the team will be released so that they can be complete.

The Expendables is a 2010 American ensemble action film written by David Callaham and Sylvester Stallone, and directed by Stallone. Since its release, there has been a sequel with the third film scheduled for release on August 15, 2014. The film is about a group of elite mercenaries tasked with missions no one else would undertake. It pays tribute to the blockbuster action films of the 1980s and early 1990s, and stars an array of action veterans from those decades, including Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Chuck Norris as well as more recent stars such as Randy Couture, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, and Steve Austin.

I like what they wear because being mercenaries, they don't wear standard and identical military uniforms and gears but each have their own gear of their choosing, as long as everything is in black because you know what they say in the military: "BLACK is always IN!" Camouflage patterns may change, colors of the fabric may change but black always stays the same and almost every special forces unit will undoubtedly have a black set of uniform they use for night operations.

So if you look at each Expendables member individually, you will see how they equip themselves according to what they need and what they are most uncomfortable going into battle with which is quite cool in a way.

Military units have their regimentation and discipline to keep them in check whereas mercenaries are "motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party".

As a result of the assumption that a mercenary is essentially motivated by money, the term mercenary usually carries negative connotations. There is a blur in the distinction between a mercenary and a foreign volunteer, when the primary motive of a soldier in a foreign army is uncertain. For instance, the French Foreign Legion and the Gurkhas of the British and Indian armies are not mercenaries under the laws of war.

But the Expendables are clearly mercenaries for hire ;p

Preview Art Figures AF-013 1/6 scale LAPD SWAT 12-inch action figure (Colin Farrell?)

After the Expendables (see previous post)...

Art Figures will be releasing a SWAT figure soon. Art Figures AF-013 is going to be a 1/6 scale LAPD SWAT 12-inch action figure. It looks to be inspired by the 2003 American action-crime-thriller film "S.W.A.T." directed by Clark Johnson, which was based on the 1975 television series of the same name. It starred Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell, Michelle Rodriguez, LL Cool J.

Colin Farrell plays Police Officer Third Grade Jim Street. He is originally assigned to S.W.A.T., but after an incident with his partner he is removed from the team and placed in the "gun cage." After Hondo sees his abilities and knowledge of special tactics firsthand, he is recruited for the new S.W.A.T. team. He is a former U.S. Navy SEAL and explosives expert. Street uses an M4A1 and a Kimber Custom TLE II pistol on S.W.A.T. missions.

Art Figures AF-013 1/6 scale LAPD SWAT 12-inch action figure will come with a 1/6 scale Authentic likeness of head sculpt, 12-inch figure Body, SWAT uniform, Combat pants, Black tactical vest, Black T-shirt, Black tactical gloves, Black socks, Knee pads, Elbow pads, PASGT helmet, M4 rifle with ACOG sight and tactical light, M9 pistol with holster, Handcuffs, Shooting glasses, Smoke grenade, Motorola radio with hand microphone, SWAT combat boots, M4 rifle magazine x 6, M9 pistol magazine x 2

There have been quite a number of SWAT figures released over the years, although a lot less of them lately. The latest SWAT figure I got was the Hot Toys Toy Fairs Exclusive "The Dark Knight" 1/6th scale Gary Oldman as Lt. Jim Gordon (S.W.A.T. suit version) Limited Edition 12-inch Collectible Figure Set (reviewed earlier HERE and HERE)

I had also posted an entry of some of the 1/6 scale S.W.A.T. 12-inch Action Figures earlier in my toy blog HERE
