It's only mid-March but I already have some haul: Reborn body, ED-209, Hit Girl, CIA, HK416 etc

Here's a quick look at my early March haul :) It includes a NECA 10-inch ED-209 robot action figure from the RoboCop movie, Original Effect 1/6 scale OE Reborn body (female standard), Play Toy 1/6 scale Purple Girl, Very Hot CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) outfit and accessories set, E&S (Easy & Simple) Assault Rifle 416 Special Forces set E (Frostbite) and Belet 003 1/6 scale head sculpt that bears a very strong resemblance to Morgan Freeman.

Most of the stuff are 1/6 scale (my cup of tea) except for the NECA 10-inch tall Enforcement Droid ED-209 from the RoboCop movie which is obviously not 1/6 scale but I always did have a thing for RoboCop, more so the classic and original version rather than the newer reboot version. You can check out my earlier post HERE of some of my RoboCop and RoboCop movie-releated figures on display. Guess I'm an old school kind of guy ;p Scroll down to see more of the pictures.

NECA 10-inch ED-209 Figure With Sound from the 1987 "Robocop" movie. When the Enforcement Droid ED-209 kills a board member during a demonstration, the OCP chairman, "The Old Man" decides to go with the experimental cyborg design titled "RoboCop". And that was the reason RoboCop was created. So it stands to reason that ED-209 played a big part in RoboCop's birth. Plus it's a pretty cool robot and a classic, still loved to this day. Why else would NECA release the robot figure in 2014, 27 years after the movie's release?

OE (Original Effect) 1/6th scale Reborn body (female standard) is about 13 inches tall and comes with eight pieces (four pairs) of interchangeable hands. Many people ask, "Why buy this figure when she's obviously taller and towers over all 12-inch figures?" Guess you'll have to stay tuned to find out ;p

Play Toy Purple Girl Sixth Scale Figure is none other than Chloë Grace Moretz as Mindy Macready / Hit Girl from Kick Ass 2 . Being much cheaper than the Medicom Toys version (pictures HERE) at more than half the price, I just had to take a chance and see how she looks. You can check out the preview pictures HERE

I have plans for this Very Hot CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) outfit and accessories set which looks GREAT for some kitbashing I have in mind. I certainly don't need another 1/6 scale CIA figure since I have quite a few 12-inch spooks in my collection already. Check out my posts HERE and HERE

This E&S (Easy & Simple) Assault Rifle 416 Special Forces set E (Frostbite) is intended for someone special ;p I realized after assembling him that he's missing a weapon. So I decided to get him one and this looks right up his alley. Who am I talking about? You can check him out HERE and be sure to check back later for an updated look.

Last but not least, Belet 003 1/6 scale head sculpt with Morgan Freeman likeness. How can I not have a 12-inch figure of a guy who has been GOD in "Bruce Almighty", Sergeant Major John Rawlins in the American Civil War film "Glory", United States President in "Deep Impact" (back then, there was no black president so people could know that the movie wasn't real), Speaker Allan Trumbull in "Olympus has Fallen", South African President in "Invictus", Joe in "RED", Lucius Fox in Christopher Nolan's Batman: The Dark Knight trilogy, Malcolm Beech in "Oblivion", Detective Lt. William Somerset in "Se7en", Vitruvius (voice) in "The Lego Movie" and so many more. Excited to have him.

So these are all for now. Watch this space for updates and reviews :)

Incoming: OE (Original Effect) 1/6 scale Army Attractive Vol.10 - Mulan female action figure

One cannot believe how far and how fast Original Effect has come. In a blink of an eye (almost), this will be their tenth figure from their Army Attractive series.

OE (Original Effect) Army Attractive Vol.1 figure was Viola which I had reviewed earlier (August 25, 2013) HERE and HERE. The first body was terribly constructed and produced, and I almost gave up getting anything else from this company. But they did improve on their female body with the release of their new Reborn body. So I took a chance and got my second OE figure which was the OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM 13-inch tall post-apocalyptic female figure which I covered in three parts HERE, HERE and HERE. I even did a comparison post HERE of 13.5-inch tall Viola and Sam.

OE (Original Effect) Army Attractive Vol.10 Mulan female action figure will come with 1/6 scale female head sculpt, OE Reborn Body, Generic Hands for posing, Hands for holding knife / sword, and shield, Mulan’s High heel shoes, Female underwear (black two piece body suit underneath), Silk coat / jacket (grayish blue short skirted robe), pink and maroon sash / belt and a black leather belt with ornate metal "flower" buckle, Girdle, Headband, Ivory necklace, Chinese style plate armor on both shoulders, hips and one shin, Great Sword (huge) and "dragon" head Shield. Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures.

Hua Mulan (Chinese: 花木蘭; Mandarin Pinyin: Huā Mùlán) is a legendary figure from ancient China who was originally described in a Chinese poem known as the Ballad of Mulan (木蘭辭). In the poem, Hua Mulan takes her aged father's place in the army. She fought for twelve years and gained high merit, but she refused any reward and retired to her hometown instead.

The poem starts with Mulan worried, as her father has been called to serve in the army. She decides to take his place and bids farewell to her parents. After ten years of fighting, the army returns and the warriors are rewarded. Mulan turns down an official post, and asks only for a swift camel to carry her home. She is greeted with joy by her family. Mulan dons her old clothes and meets her comrades, who are shocked that in their years travelling together, they did not realize that she was a woman.

I think we are all familiar with the 1998 Disney animated feature film "Mulan" based on the legend of Mulan, and the basis of many derivative works. She certainly looks nothing like this ;p

What I got in February 2014: SOC GLINT, G.I. Joe Roadblock, Psylocke, Star Wars and more

These were the stuff I got in February: DAM Toys Ghost series No. SF001 1/6 scale Special Operations Center GLINT Team Leader: Ryder Watson 12-inch figure, Hot Toys G.I. Joe Retaliation 1/6th scale Roadblock 12-inch Collectible Figure, MC Toys F-029 1/6 scale Snow Space set for 12-inch figures (all set for the Inception movie Snow Scene), Kotobukiya Marvel Bishoujo collection 1/7th scale X-Force Psylocke 8-inch Statue, "Star Wars: A Pop-up Guide to the Galaxy" book, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson 1/6 scale head sculpt, Christmas card and 2014 calendar from Sideshow Collectibles.

Always enjoy my hauls. Something to look forward to as I enjoy taking pictures and posting them on my toy blog to share with fellow collectors and anyone else who's interested :) Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures.

Used to be you'll think that this boxed figure set was from Soldier Story but not anymore. Dam Toys has upped their game and been churning out some very good stuff lately and this is just one of them. Looks to be an awesome figure. Can't wait to put this together :) In the meantime, check out the preview pictures posted earlier HERE

Hot Toys MMS series G.I. Joe Retaliation 1/6th scale Roadblock Collectible Figure simply ROCKS (pun intended). Cannot wait to see the unveiling? Check out the preview pictures HERE

Haven't seen that many all white snow sets in a while and this looked very promising from the preview pictures released (posted in my toy blog HERE) Let's see what we can kitbash with this ;p

Kotobukiya Marvel Bishoujo collection 1/7th scale X-Force Psylocke 8-inch Statue, already reviewed HERE and HERE. I really like this statue and that's saying a lot since I don't collect a lot of statues and this was one of the exceptions.

"Star Wars: A Pop-up Guide to the Galaxy" book with dual light-up light sabers was also reviewed earlier HERE. I was blown away by the pop-ups effects.

Alternate Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson 1/6 scale head sculpt. One of those things that are good to have (for kitbashing)

Christmas card from Sideshow Collectibles. This came as a complete surprise and was totally unexpected. Always nice to receive gifts :) feels like Christmas all over again haha

The Sideshow Collectibles 2014 calendar: Capturing Archetypes – Twenty years of Sideshow Art. Beautifully taken photographs of figures and statues sold by Sideshow Collectibles over the years presented over twelve months of 2014.

Darth Vader is covered in May, perhaps to imply "MAY the Force be with you" since May 4 is Star Wars Day ;p

That's all for now. I will be reviewing the figures featured here in March 2014 even as I look forward to new hauls for the coming months.

Comparison pictures of OE Killer Instinct Sam & Viola + Motoko, Deunan, Black Widow & Selina

continued from previous post...

Having reviewed OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM 13" post-apocalyptic female figure in three parts previously HERE, HERE and HERE, I think it's time to make a comparison between OE Sam and OE Viola, as well as with other 1/6 scale female action figures (NOT dolls but I guess that's just a technicality). Guys don't want to be seen playing with dolls, that's for the gals and daughters. That's why the term "action figure" was coined for masculine man so that they can say it's OKAY to pose with their action figures - same same but different Haha

According to wikipedia: An action figure is a pose-able character figurine, made of plastic or other materials, and often based upon characters from a film, comic book, video game, or television program. These action figures are usually marketed towards boys and adult collectors. Barbie is very much a fashion doll, primarily designed to be dressed to reflect fashion trends and are usually modeled after teen girls or adult women. Sam and Viola aren't because they are designed with men in mind LOL

That explains why I don't have many female figures in my toy collection because I much prefer the rough and tumble kind of characters who can take a knock and keep on going, not implying durability but that the figures are action-oriented. Scroll down to check out the size difference between OE (Original Effect) Army Attractive series 1/6 scale Viola and OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM as well as other size comparison pictures of these two taller than usual figures with 1/6 scale "Ghost in the Shell" Motoko Kusanagi, "Appleseed Ex Machina" Deunan Knute, Marvel's "The Avengers (2012)" Black Widow and "The Dark Knight Rises" Selina Kyle / Catwoman.

As you can see, Viola is taller at 13.5 inches while Sam stands at 13 inches. Viola is the first figure released by OE (reviewed earlier in my toy blog HERE and HERE) and they must have rushed the production because the body sucks big time. She's what I would call "loose limbs" and her legs will just give up on her and fall off completely :(

Close-up of OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM 13-inch female action figure with the alternate head sculpt

Close-up of OE (Original Effect) Army Attractive series 1/6 scale Viola with come-hither look in her eyes ;p

Here's a 1/6 scale female body comparison picture of OE Army Attractive Viola and OE Killer Instinct Sam standing together with Medicom Toys "Ghost in the Shell" Motoko Kusanagi and Hot Toys "Appleseed Ex Machina" Deunan Knute. Both OE female figures tower over the other two.

Medicom Toy 1/6 scale Motoko Kusanagi - Ghost in a Shell / Stand Alone Complex - Public Security Section 9, a fictional division of the real Japanese National Public Safety Commission female action figure. Lots more pictures HERE

Hot Toys MMS "Appleseed Ex Machina" 1/6 scale Deunan Knute fully pose-able figure posted earlier HERE

And here's a 1/6 scale female body comparison picture of OE Army Attractive Viola and OE Killer Instinct Sam standing together with Hot Toys Marvel's "The Avengers (2012)" Black Widow and "The Dark Knight Rises" Selina Kyle / Catwoman.

You can check out the review of Hot Toys The Avengers 1/6th scale Scarlett Johansson as Agent Romanoff / Black Widow Limited Edition 12-inch Female Figure HERE, HERE and HERE

Last but not least, Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises: 1/6 Selina Kyle / Catwoman Female Collectible Figure was reviewed over 3 parts HERE, HERE and HERE (this last post has her on the Bat Pod)

Last picture of all six female figures grouped together :)
